High Schools

Package A – Step into History: One-hour maximum introductory level lecture visits; One hour lecture visits are the best opportunity for having the Museum provide a unique educational experience to students in one hour class sessions. Museum staff and volunteers make a class visit to any high school in LA and Orange County to cover topics ranging from war, genocide, human rights issues, and more. Lectures can be tailored to the topics covered in your classes and Museum objects, interviews, and interactive learning materials may also be provided for a more enhanced learning experience.  The one hour sessions can be used for multiple classes. Speaking and set up fees are waived and digital learning materials are provided free of charge for all high schools in Orange County for this package. Transportation and other costs may apply.

 

Package B – School Assembly Lecture: Two-hour maximum lecture visits; These lectures are great for larger school assembly events and provide schools with topic-based lectures from professionals in the field. Museum staff and volunteers provide a comprehensive presentation including Museum objects on topics related to core areas of study including war, genocide, democide, and more. Eyewitness guests can also be arranged and specific topics can be focused on as well. Both online and physical handouts of learning materials can be provided. Transportation, set up, learning material, and other costs may apply.

Package C – Hands on History: 1-4 hour experiential learning visits: Experiential and Socratic learning games are a great way to engage students with the subject matter. Through gamification, students learn key aspects about local and global power relationships, leadership skills, empathy, being a team player, and much more. Einstein has said that “all knowledge is experience; everything else is just information” and we believe that experience is a great teacher as well. Although the games do not deal with the core study of tyranny and dictatorships, they help students learn about social roles, shareholder-stakeholder theory, empathy, and key leadership skills that promote collaboration and harmony among diverse and sometimes opposing interests. Each game is followed by a debrief session, where students get to reflect on what they have done and learned and how their engagement can impact the present and future. Set up fees, learning material, and other costs may apply.

 

Package D – Mini Exhibition: The Mini Exhibitions for high schools are designed to be one day events. They are set up in the morning and stay until the school day ends along with our staff and volunteers. The mini exhibitions provide a concise history of a selected topic surrounding the major themes and core study areas of the Museum. A classroom is usually large enough to host one day mini exhibits and can be combined with any of the high school packages offered here. Additional costs and fees may apply if this is used in conjunction with another package. Set up fees, learning material, and other costs may apply.

 

Package E – Publication Days: This package is designed to be used either as a contest or a general opportunity for students to publish their work as an academic publication. Students of history either combine their efforts to publish a book about a topic related to the core study areas of the Regimes Museum or a contest is held and the finalists are published in a special section of an upcoming R.M. Journal issue. Fees and printing costs may apply. 

Colleges and Universities

Package A – Historical Lecture: Have a member of the Museum staff guest lecture about a topic in your college or university class along with Museum objects and historical witnesses or footage (where applicable). These lectures can be tailored towards the needs to the class. Transportation and other costs may apply.

Package B – Historical Lecture: Host a presentation event at your college or university. The Regimes Museum provides presentations on a wide range of topics related to the core fields studied at the Museum. This package includes one or more Museum staff lecturers, eyewitness (in-person or video footage) accounts, Museum objects pertaining to the topic, learning material, and handouts. Transportation, set up, learning material, printing, and other costs may apply.

 

Package C – Lecture Events & Series: Host one of our lecture events and / or have your graduate students participate in Museum sponsored lecture events and series and have their work published in the R.M Journal. The Regimes Museum hosts its own lectures and will also co-host lectures at your college or university in an effort to help prepare your graduate students for work in higher education. All graduate students who qualify will have their work published in the R.M. Journal along with a featured author section. Students who use archival material from our holdings are encouraged to share their work. Lecture series and events are also open to professors and faculty interested in sharing their work as well. Although these lecture events are free for participants and are open to the public, some costs may still apply.

 

Package D – Traveling Exhibitions: Host one of our traveling exhibitions at your college or university. Our traveling exhibitions vary in size and scope but can be large exhibitions as well as small. If you wish to use our archive to create an exhibition that you wish to host at your college or university, our traveling exhibitions program is an ideal platform to combine the efforts and strengths of higher level learning institutions with museum and archival work.

 

Package E – Publication Days: This package is designed to be used either as a contest or a general opportunity for students to publish their work as an academic publication. Students of history either combine their efforts to publish a book about a topic related to the core study areas of the Regimes Museum or a contest is held and the finalists are published in a special section of an upcoming R.M. Journal issue. Full manuscripts, such as Master’s theses and dissertations are also considered for the R.M. Press. We also provide workshops on how to get published by R.M. Press. Fees and printing costs may apply.
