About the Event

The 1st Annual Regimes Museum Scholarly Conference on Tyranny will be hosted at California State University, Fullerton, on September 28, 2024.

Regimes Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the study and prevention of crimes against humanity by totalitarian dictatorships. This conference aims to further that mission, fostering research, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas.

This year, we are excited to delve into the theme of “Media Under Tyranny,” an exploration that promises to unearth fresh insights and spark dynamic conversations. Topics of interest include:

  • Propaganda and ideological subversion
  • Music, film, radio, and entertainment created in or about dictatorships/related events
  • News, journalism, and alternative media
  • Government and independent media
  • Censorship
  • Photography in or about dictatorships/related events
  • International media portrayals of dictatorships (past and present)
  • Mass media and its impact on psychology/society/culture

We are currently accepting submissions for this event! Please visit regimesmuseum.org/conference for more information.
